Fish-farming project in Mali

University of Pittsburgh Chapter of Engineers Without Borders is currently working on an aquaculture project in Makili, Mali. The people of Makili, with the support of the village chief, wish to construct a village fish farm to be used for year round pisciculture. The site for the proposed project is a seasonal pond that forms each rainy season on the edge of the village. Work will include construction of the ponds, as well as educating the local population on proper aquaculture practices and facility maintenance. Bernard Amadei and Cathy Leslie in Town

Dr. Bernard Amadei, the founder of EWB, will be in Pittsburgh on October 22nd, 2007 to accept the prestigious Heinz Award. Cathy Leslie, the Executive Director of EWB, will also be in Pittsburgh to attend this private award ceremony. There will be a social before the ceremony for the other members to get an opportunity to meet them and get inspired.
